Blurb: Since the accident that nearly took her life, Chloe suffers from acute agoraphobia. Living alone above her family's bookstore, she spends restless nights terrified by strange visions . . . until a mysterious stranger appears and offers her salvation. Chloe is drawn to the ethereal, gorgeous Nathaniel-but her haunted soul warns her there is more to him than meets the eye.The idea of this book was really good, I just didn't connect with it the way that I'd like to. Don't get me wrong it wasn't a bad story, there were some parts that I really liked, it just wasn't as engaging as I'd like it to be.
An archangel who roams Earth collecting souls of the newly departed, Nathaniel is the sole witness to the accident that should have taken Chloe's life. Seduced by the purity of her soul, he defies Providence by saving her life. But his attempt at kindness marks Chloe for damnation, and makes her an unwitting pawn in a game of unholy ambition. Now together they must fight the demons of Hell itself-for a love that defies the boundaries of Heaven and Earth.
Chloe is agoraphobic, and doesn't leave the house anymore since her car accident, in which unbeknownst to her Nathaniel saved her life. Their souls have formed a connection to one another, and she experiences Nathaniel's soul collecting in her dreams. While Chloe does seem to get braver by the end of the book, for most of it I felt she was just weak and I like my heroines a lot stronger.
Nathaniel's character was really interesting. He is a fallen angel, who fell by helping his brother and nephew. Now he collects the souls of the most undesirable criminals of our world. He is a really good being, and is starting to feel a bit burnt-out from his work.
The relationship moves really fast between the two and although there is a soul connection between the two, I don't think that it was believable that it progressed as quickly as it did.
