French billionaire Marcel Mercier loves women. And there's a string of broken hearts across two continents to prove it. But as CEO of Mercier Shipping, he's got more important things to worry about . . . like why the charter company he just purchased in the United States is suddenly the center of an international media firestorm.Excerpt:
Now that big, bad Mercier Shipping owns Captain Dani Lloyd's ship, she's sure her job is at stake. But she won't go down without a fight—even if it means chaining herself to the mast of the Esther Reed and refusing to set foot on shore.
The delectable captain and her newsworthy dramatics are a PR nightmare, but Marcel is happy to let Dani prove her skills on a weeklong sail to Boston. He knows no woman can resist him for that long . . . in fact, he's counting on it.
But Marcel's plan to seduce Dani backfires as sparks fly between the billionaire playboy and the passionate captain. Which leaves Marcel realizing that winning her heart is a challenge he can't afford to lose.
God, he made her nervous.
She tried to take the upper hand around him, to crack wise and be chill, but didn’t that always seem to blow up in her face? Like the night previous, when she all but crawled in his lap. Where had that come from anyway? He was her boss. Or at least at the top of a long and rather complicated corporate food chain. Plus he was so many other things she could hardly fathom; he was so far removed from her reality. Billionaire. Shipping magnate. International player.
Gorgeous.
No. She needed to stop. Immediately. Because when it came to his looks, he was really out of her league, no matter how much he toyed with her. Men like him probably toyed with every woman they met. Not that she knew much about men like him, or any man in particular, especially when it came to things like flirting. That wasn’t what she was about. What she was about, and what she needed to keep her mind on, was keeping a career on track that was one step away from imploding.
So she’d made sure, even before they docked, that Marcel Mercier would appear as un-Marcel Mercier as possible when he left the ship. He had changed out of his expensive polo and shorts and into a plain pair of khakis and a T-shirt; and after borrowing a Yankees cap from the deckhand, Joey, he’d slipped on a considerably cheaper pair of wrap-around sunglasses from the ship’s lost and found box. As a final measure Dani had him leave his Cartier watch in the ship’s safe.
“I could lend you my Timex,” she offered.
He cocked a brow. “Thanks, Danielle, but this is enough of a blow to my reputation.”
“Just be back before sunrise,” she said. “We leave with the tide.”
“I’ll try my hardest.” He tilted the sunglasses. “Don’t be too lonely, okay?” Then he stepped off the ship, blending into the milling crowd.
