The Day Human King
The Day Human Trilogy, #2
After he assumed the power of the late sidhe king, Devin thought the battle to protect Nessa and continue with her coronation was complete. Everyone feared him and he had the power to do whatever he wanted in the sidhe world. He was wrong. As problem after problem arises, Nessa finds the path to the throne is not as simple as they had hoped. Formalities must be adhered to and preparations must be made. Between all of that, Devin and Nessa must decide what to do with an obviously pregnant Fiona, who will not name the father of her child. To make matters worse, the elite sidhe are still assassinating each other. No one in the palace is safe. Who is behind the latest deaths, and can the coronation occur with the drama happening around them? Devin and Nessa’s road to power might be cut short if they can’t find the answers.
The Day Human Prince
The Day Human Trilogy, #1
Devin Alexander grew up as the only day human in a world surrounded by night humans who drank blood, sometimes his blood. He spent his life training toward one goal: the protection of one of those blood drinkers, Arianna Grace. But what is he supposed to do when the blue-eyed girl of the legends doesn’t need him anymore? What does his life mean then? How is a guy supposed to move on when the girl he has yearned over for a decade has chosen someone else?
Before he can even start to figure out his new life without Arianna, Devin has to deal with another problem. He needs to take care of some unfinished business with a night human he has known for less than a month, but with whom he is magically bound.
Vanessa McKinny has promised that she knows a way to undo the spell she placed on Devin to save his life. Devin would do anything to break the bond to be free of her, even if it means traveling to the sidhe village, a place inhabited by a race of night humans that has not had a day human visitor in more than a hundred years. If he doesn’t want to get stuck, he must work with Nessa to find a way to break the bond. Only then can Devin have time to get back to finding his new goal in life, unless he discovers that his path lies with the sidhe.
Excerpt:
“How did you two end up here?” Devin asked, still looking around at the hiding faces. Some were old, but many were young.
The young man chuckled. “You sure are curious for a day human.”
Mara nodded. Devin was unsure how to take that. He doubted they had met many day humans.
“This place is different from where I’m used to,” Devin replied. He was curious. He needed to be. How was he to save the sidhe if he didn’t understand them?
The young man smiled and nodded. “Fair enough. I’m sure I’d find where you are from different, too.” He draped an arm around Mara. “I grew up in town, basically on the other side of this town. I was part of the Miller family, and Mara was a Ferguson. We used to see each other on our chores, and we discovered that our abilities are similar. While she can grow plants, I can make fruit and seeds grow on trees. We crossed paths often and became friends. It was when her father went to publicly disown her for not being able to grow more than flowers that I found out I loved her. So we decided to be together. Since I had claimed her, her family and father actually agreed to let her marry me. Her father was just afraid he would never have her married. Once we were, he didn’t find anything wrong with her ability. I don’t know how much of the sidhe politics you have been told, but you don’t mix families. Eventually word got to the heads of the families and the Miller and Ferguson families disowned us. We ended up here. Not the best way to start a marriage, but it has worked for us.”
“I’d have ended up here anyway,” Mara added. “But this lug thought he was being all chivalrous by calling out that he loved me. He thought if I was disowned I could join his family. That was not the case when the elite found out.”
“And so you have to live here?” Devin asked. It was on the outskirts of the village and run down, but he didn’t see why they were bad off. They were free of the elite.
“And we are not allow to participate in functions of the village,” Mara added. She shrugged. “It’s not too bad. We’ve had to learn how to become self-sufficient. But everyone around here helps you learn.”
